Instrument Landing System (ILS) Category I, II, and III.
GrupAirmed has the latest advances in airborne technology, in this case with capabilities for simultaneous analysis of LOC and GP signals along with other overlapping aids. This way, the degree of concordance between the different aids for the same approach can be scientifically ensured.
The Instrument Landing System (ILS) is the approach and landing aid established by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) as a standardized system worldwide. This control system allows an aircraft to be accurately guided during the approach to the runway and, in some cases, along the runway itself.
The most famous aid that airplanes have for the approach is called ILS. It stands for Instrument Landing System, and although there are other more modern aids today, such as RNAV approaches and PBN procedures in general, ILS remains the most popular approach procedure at airports around the world.
The ILS itself has different categories depending on visibility and cloud ceiling requirements. The lower the meteorological requirement (lower cloud ceiling or lower visibility), the greater precision is needed, and it is designated with a higher category. The categories are divided into CAT I, II, and III. Within category III, we find three subdivisions A, B, and C, with the latter being the most precise as it allows landing with 0 meters of visibility and with the cloud ceiling at ground level.
